The spark of the internal medicine partnership between AAU and UofT started in 2009 and after several years of hard work three TAAAC collaborations finally commenced with the first AAU fellows in Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Hematology starting their training in the spring of 2012. Since then we have had over 30 UofT TAAAC teaching trips out to Ethiopia and the AAU Internal Medicine fellowships have graduated over 20 specialists all who have remained as teaching faculty within Ethiopia. Our graduates are now leaders in AAU and teaching the next generation of specialists.
